Which helmet suits my needs?
It depends on what you participate in. Here in Denmark, according to Dasu's regulation 6, there is only one requirement for the helmet and that is that it must be ECE approved as a minimum. This means that in Denmark you must use virtually all MC/Scooter helmets for karting. If you want extra safety or want to participate in larger international races, you should look towards Snell or FIA approved helmets. If a helmet has a valid Snell or FIA approval, it means that it has been produced and designed based on some safety requirements set by the FIA. In order to get the approval, it requires extensive testing of the helmet.

Fit
Your helmet should fit snugly without bothering or pressing unnecessarily. The helmet must not be able to move if you shake your head. To find your size, measure around your head approx. 1-2cm above the eyebrows and around the largest point of the back of your head. Once you have the measurement, you can follow our size guide on the helmet you want to buy.
Weight
The weight of the helmet can have an influence on whether the neck is strained. This is especially seen when children and juniors drive. Therefore, helmet manufacturers make helmets with a smaller shell for children and young people, thereby achieving a lower total weight on the helmet.
Eg. Zamp RZ-42Y, Bell KC7, Arai CK-6 are optimized for junior driving under 16 years. The shell is slightly smaller than on their adult models and therefore also lighter.
Visor
For most helmets, you can buy visors in different colors, this helps to make the helmet more attractive, but most importantly, they often have the effect of sunglasses and reduce the light of the rays. The visor must be splinter-free and without large scratches or cracks.
